Phillip Berger and wife Barbara came to the US from Germany in the 1840-1860 time frame. They settled in East Orange New Jersey and raised a family. Catherine, daughter of Phillip married John Hoffman in 1885. They had 4 children, Mabel Sapphire, Elsie , Ida, and William. Does this ring a bell with anyone out there?
