Frank Berger>Germany>Wisconsin>late 1800

I am searching for Frank Berger's, my g.g. grandfather, parents. We believe he came over from Germany( date unknown ), finally settling in Wisconsin. He was born October 4, 1858 and died in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, on March 3, 1919. He married Catherine Schalowetz( date unknown ), born December 15, 1858 and she also died in Manitowoc, on April 22, 1936. They had seven children that we know of. Teresa, Anna, Maria, Rose, Margret, Joe and Bill Berger.

I am very interested in where my g.g grandfather came from. My great-grandmother Margret never talked about her childhood or where they were from. But her husband did say he thought they came from the Black Forest in Germany. I have been told that the people who lived around the Black Forest were gypsies.

Any information would be very helpful,
thank you for your time
