Help! How to find the correct surname??
Posted by: barry Date: April 22, 1999 at 20:22:40

Help!!! One side of my family came from Polish-Russia. Found my great grandfather on the 1920 census, his last name and everybody in his tree down is Berger, not Polish or Russia sounding more German or "americanized".

I have talked with some other family members who found papers at the libary of congress on my great grandfather's father, who came from Polish-Russia to England and then to the U.S. in the late 1920's, shown on the ships manafest his last name is Berglan.

I have tried to find the other brothers and sisters that I know are here during the 1910 forward and where they are, however, I can not come up with the last name they were using during this time to find them on the census... any idea's?
