I'm a descendant of John Grant, a Scottish soldier who married Sarah Bergen (age 16 I believe) shortly before the American Revolution. They lived on a farm near Jamaica on Long Island, but John Grant supported the British and was forced to leave for Nova Scotia with his family in 1783. They never returned but their eldest son, Stephen, came back, presumably to live with his Bergen relatives. Any further information about this connection would be greatly appreciated.
