Hi Cornelius, I feel confident our genetic markers 'should' differ significantly as we are different lineage Bergens to begin with. I am, according to record, a direct male descendant of Hans Hansen and you've identified yourself elsewhere as a descendant of Heinrich (to the best of my knowledge very disparate lines). Sorry if I was unclear as to my earliest known Bergen ancestor. I was hoping for shared resulted from other Bergens of Hans Hansen’s line to confirm that my Y chromosome ‘really’ comes to me thru Hans Hansen. That is something only direct male descendants of Hans Hansen (those who would also have an uninterrupted chain of inherited Y chromosomes from father to son, all the way back to Hans) could confirm or deny for me. The most preferred result would be from direct male descendants whose line does not also pass thru John Talmadge, as mine does, since this would further confirm or deny my Y chromosome’s accurate origin with Hans Hansen and thusly shed certain light on Han’s origin prior to recorded history! That, I believe, would be of great value to genealogists of his line as the picture gets quite blurry before Hans. However, our DNA still might be interesting to compare and I ‘might’ be able to help you better interpret the data you’ve received and with that the path your Bergen ancestors took prior to their recorded history. Expect my e-mail soon. -Robert Notify Administrator about this message?
