Catherine Berg came to the USA in 1893 at the age of 7. She was brought here from Germany by her aunt and uncle Jacob and Margerate Ponstein (Pornstein)of Chicago. Margarate maiden name Nelson. Both Ponstein's first came to USA in 1881 and settled in Chicago,Il. Catherine's(Catharina) parents were Gertrude and Anton Berg . Both in Germany. The name on the manifest was Pornstein but I believe Ponstein is correct. Very possible the name was Pornstein and changed to Ponstein after they were married. They married in Chicago , Il. in 1886. Margaret died in 1927 and Jacob died in 1950 both in Chicago. Trying to find what city Catherine is from in Germany and which Pornstein may have been her blood relative. Also what happened to Catherines parents that caused them to send her to the USA at age 7. Your help is appreciated. Bill Doherty
