Greetings,
I know there are other listings for Bergs in Minnesota, but I doubt I am related to these lines. Any help on this search would be useful ^_^.
Onto the question:
My g-g-grandfather was John J. Berg B: 31 Jan 1864 Gotenborg, Sweden. D. 09 Sep 1946 Intl. Falls, Koochiching Co. MN. He was a well known probate judge in Northern Minnesota, who immigrated from Sweden, and did not go through Ellis Island (He went through a northern port I'm still unfamiliar with, I only know this based on the obit from 1946).
He was important to the history of northern Minnesota, but for the life of my research no one knows why or where he come from in Sweden (save for what was written on the death certificate).
This John Berg was married twice. His first marriage was to my g-grandmother Selma Swanson B: 16 Oct 1971 Republic, Marquette Co. MI. D: 29 Jul 1946 Duluth, MN. (her daughter, my grandmother was Edna Berg).
Does anyone have any further information on either John or Selma? Particularly from Sweden?
