Hello. I live between Busti and Jamestown New York. I grew up on what we called 'the old farm'. A big red barn and a very old white house still stand on 80+ acres of land, though much land has been sold, animals are long gone, and we have even stopped growing corn now. I'm only 19 years old and I'm left with very little to go on as my grandfather and grandmother on my dad's side are dead, as well as many of my other older relatives. I was wondering if anyone here believes they know anything about my family's history that I may not, or could relate any experiences to me. I know the names of my paternal grandfather's parents only (so, they would be my great grandparents), but nothing more for them except for their childrens' names. I don't even know where they are buried, where they came from, when they were born and died, and so on. Nothing. Just names. They were Carl A. Berg and Gertrude E. Swanson-Berg. For my grandmother on that side, I only know her name. I don't know the names of her parents though I seem to recall hearing that her Greenwood family lived in my house before the Bergs did. I can't confirm this, as I have no further information. Her name was Marion E. Greenwood-Berg, and she lived with her husband (my grandfather) at my house until she died when I was about 3 or 4 years old. My grandfather Harold H. Berg passed away in 2001. I know that he had a sister named Ruth who was born in 1910 in Illinois and came to the area in 1914, so his parents may have lived there for a while. I really do not know and wish I did. If you know anything about anyone farther back in time or just anything in general about these people, where they came from and lived, who owned my old farm, and so on... or even if you just have a story about them... I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Feel free to email me or post here. Notify Administrator about this message?
