This was in a letter my Great-Great Grandfather Albert John William Schultz wrote. I see you have a Schultz listed in this posting along with Berg's.

"My Grandfather on my mothers side, name was Gum, lived on a farm and was killed by a bull at middle age and his wife (my Grandmother) never married again lived to be 93 years. Died in Chicago, IL. All my Grandparents had four children each, most of them came to North America about the years 1846 - 1850. I never knew or saw any of them except Grandmother Gum.
One Uncle and Aunt and 6 cousins, 2 by the name of Berg, lived in Chicago, IL. Some of the Gum families are in Millawke, Wisconsin and Waupeska, Wisconsin.

Do you have any information that may connect the two families? Albert lived from 1869 (b. in Wangerline,Germany) to 1949. He died in Iowa.
