I found a note that indicated the family name was in the census as Barrick. Two Peter Barick's are neighbors in the 1850 census Peter and Elizabeth (yours?) and kids plus Peter and Mary Ann and kids (mine!) Two Peter Barrick's are in the 1860 Cambria as well - and I'm pretty sure one of these is yours except the ages difference do not match what you said: my Peter H. is two house away from Peter (47) and wife is Elizabeth (36) and children are Catherine (18), John (16), Philip (12), Lewis (10), Mary (7) Levina (5), and Sarah (1). My Peter H. Barrick is 2 houses away. Peter, Elizabeth and Peter H. are all from Hesse. Go to
The only Peter H. Berg sibling I know the name of is Barbara - she married an Ulrich Leffler.
My Peter's father is Hartman Berg, arrived in Baltimore on October 25, 1838 on the Eliza and Susan from Rossdorf, Hesse, Germany. With Hartman are 4 men (over 12), 4 women (over 12) and 1 child. Peter is two lines later. Hartman is in the Somerset Co PA 1840 census: 4 M 20-30, 1 M 50-60, 1 F 5-10, 2 F 15-20, 1 F 50-60
