I have traced my family Beresford back through Mary Beresford (Stevenson), 1808/1888, Antrim/Muckamore/Belfast, N. Ireland (many who were considered Irish were, in fact, English who were transplanted to N. Ireland, and intermixed into Irish marriages and families, so we are both, English and Irish). Through family history, and reports I got when in England and N.I. years ago, the direct blood line was supposed to come down to me being the Earl of Beresford, but I haven't confirmed that, as titles are more or less symbolic any more, and not worth the effort to actually search out. There is a name source, from a very un-cooperative "geneologist", Don Park, who has some Beresford in his family, including William de la Poor Beresford and others. This is my lineage. Might do a search for Don Park, his web site has a number of searchable surmane indexes, but don't expect any help from him, his attitude is he is well above all us other mere mortals. Park is in eastern Canada. He will maker you divulge all your info, then say there isn't a connection. His surname indexes are worth looking at, though. Problem with all this is that records are either unaccessable or others who think the titles are worth something will try to throw searchers off the trail for their own interests. Burke's Peerage, now Debrett's Peerage, would also have some info, but I don't have the $175.00 for it, haven't found one in any library yet either. This book is the bible of English royalty/lineage. Stay in touch, please.
