for all you people looking for Beresfords, you will find that about 90% of Beresfords originate in Derbyshire, particularly around Fenney Bentley on the Derbyshire/Staffordshire Border, In Fenney Bentley Church there is the tomb of one of the first Beresfords c1300 and the visitor book is full of entries by Beresfords from around the world especially America, so if you have a brickwall, start looking around there.
It is no use contacting me as I have no connection to the Beresfords, but have come upon this knowledge while searching for my own family.
