Captain John Keating of Tipperary/Waterford?

I am seeking information on my ggg grandfather, Captain John Beresford Keating, b. before 1800? He married Mary Kickham and they had at least two daughters-Mary and Ellen. Family tradition says that Ellen was born at sea while crossing the Atlantic to come to Texas (then Mexico) in 1834. Most of the original settlers in the south Texas area of San Patricio and Refugio colonies were from Tipperary and Cork.

I thought since his middle name was Beresford, it was possible that was his mother's maiden name. I know there was a concentration of Keatings, Beresfords and Kickhams in the south Tipperary area, but haven't been able to find anything on either John Beresford Keating or Mary Kickham.
