I recently found some notes written by my mother, Catherine Benz, that her grandfather John Columbus Benz, born in St. Gall Switzerland 9-11-1853, emigrated in 1865 to the US; died in 1911.

If you're interested, I could send more info; there's a lot of Benzs on our side.
