I am a descendant of Jacob Bentz and
Salome Alspach of Summit Co., OH 1830-
1850. Jacob immigrated from Wurtemberg
to Philadelphia in 1817. Salome is daughter
of Peter Alspach of Schuylkill Co., PA. I have
not been able to fix marriage date or place.
By 1860 they were residing in Wayne Co.,
OH, but the census record is messed up with
Jacob being renamed "George Bentz." As
I have it Susanna married HANNA, and by
the time of Jacob's death in 1890 the probate
record places the Hanna heirs in Shelby Co.,
IA. That's as far as I have it. My line: John
M. Blue married Esther Bentz 1860 Wayne
Co. The minister, George F. Spreng, is spouse
of Christina Bentz who is the eldest child of
Jacob.
