Joe, I've got it!This weekend the cousin that I met at the family reunion, Ella, sent me copies of tons of very important information that she acquired so we can work together.I have death certificates, obituaries, copies of family bible that I didn't even know existed and lots more! She is a blessing, not to mention a super kind person.
I have now a copy of Philipp Bentz's (b. 1868) family bible that has been translated, (though I don't need translation as I speak Deutsch), which states that Philipp's (b. 1868) father is Philipp Bentz b. 16 Apr 1844 in Neudorf, Russia and died 31 Dec 1928!This Philipp (b.1844) is your Georg Friederick's brother.I'll call him Philipp Sr since there is two of them.Philipp Sr was married to Christina Grosshans (I've also seen Grosshausen) before 1875.She was b. 6 Feb 1848 and died 3 Sept 1928 and is buried in Dallas, SD.
I have both Philipp Sr. and Christina's death certificates as well as Philipp Jr. and his wife Eva (Martzolf)'s death certificates.I also have their obituaries auf Deutsch.
So there is our connection!
My cousin even sent me a copy (very poor quality but much appreciated) of a picture of Philipp Jr and his wife Eva.
Ella, also sent me information on the Bethlehem Church Congregation that was started in 1889 in the sod house of your George Friederick Bentz! This info was from a person with the last name Gall who states her great grandfather was your George Friederick Bentz and her grandfather is Friedrich Bentz. She said that the church
"was organized in 1893 in the sod house. We still had services there until 1896 when the stone church was finished.Members (when church services were held in the home)were 8 families as follows =
George Friedrick Bentz
Friedrich Bentz
Christian Bentz
Jacob Bentz
Peter Stroh
Fred Glasser (Martin?)
John Guthmiller
Christian Jenner"
Ms. Gall listed many members that joined later on under Reverend Gustaf Bauman and Reverend Single.I see several names of interest for you here including my direct links.
Ms. Gall also included a list of the Bethlehem Church Congregation (stone church) cemetery burials!
Ella also told me in her research she found out the reason why your George Friederick Bentz left Neudorf with as many of the family members he could take, like my Philipp Jr.Whoa!
Now you may have all of this or you might already know all of this, but to me it's like winning the lottery 20 times in a row! It's priceless info--esp the copy of Philipp Jr's family bible, several pages. What beautiful German design.
Yes I would definately love the picture that you have offered to me.I cannot use my email, that's why I give info here (plus others can use the info), but I called Ella yesterday and she gave me special permission to give you her email address. She checks her email once a week and any correspondence can go through her since we are working together on our family lines.Once you contact her, don't leave me out of the loop please. She has been to Anoka and SD with her parents doing family research and I'm sure would be also interested in your group. She has amazing access to lots of records, easily as she works in a genealogy library.
I hope this information has been helpful to you.Get ahold of Ella, OK?Her email:[email protected]
