Hello Edmund,
I have been searching for information on a Christian Bentz, and was wondering if the J. Christian you mentioned might be him. He would be my paternal great grandfather.
According to census records, he would have been born in Pennsylvania around 1830. His first wife was named Catherine, and his second wife was probably Sarah Reppert. He lived in Berks County as of 1860, but I do not think he was born there. He was still alive as of the 1880 census.
