I've been going through some unmatched marriage records and came to this marriage record: George D. BENTLEY and Mary A. RHODEN, 12/23/1869, in Fleming County, Kentucky.
I have a Mary Ann "Polly" RHODEN (nee HALE) who was widowed in 1861 and then seems to disappear until 1890 where she is now in Carter County, Kentucky.
So far, I haven't found this couple (George & Mary BENTLEY) in the 1870 or 1880 U.S. Federal Censuses. Nor have I found Mary/Polly RHODEN in either of those years.
My Mary A RHODEN had at least 4 children by her first husband. There are 3 other children that are believed to be her children, but who were born after she was widowed.
I would really like to know where she was between 1862 (first husband's Civil War pension papers) until 1890 (Civil War Veterans Census). I can see a census enumerator missing a household once, but I question twice in consecutive years.
