Bentley Brothers at York Assizes 1828

My great, great, great grandfather was Benjamin Bentley (1808-1880), the 12 child of Joseph Bentley of Cleckheaton. Joseph's first child was also named Benjamin but died in childhood. Your ancestor Jeremiah( 1797 - 1875) was Benjamin's older brother. Benjamin married Martha Appleyard and they immigrated to Canada in 1847 with their six children. Another brother, Abraham, also immigrated to Canada with his family. Benjamin had his farm in Warwick Township, Lambton County, Ontario and is buried in the Anglican graveyard there with his wife and son John. Abraham established his farm in Erinmills near Mississauga and is buried in the Anglican graveyard in Streetsville, ont. I understand that the older brothers were transported to Australia and returned to Cleckheaton to rejoin their families and let fairly decent lives. There are documents, i.e., release from custody papers, etc., on line.
