Go to http://www.bentley.familyheritage.ca/images/asahelbentley1896.jpg In 1896, John Henry Bentley put together this tree in honor of his father Ashael's 82nd birthday on Nov 1985. In the upper right hand corner you will see an abbreviated list of the children by two different marriages. The second marriage to Roxanna Sanford has four children including Avery. There is no follow-up of descendants from these children because in 1895, none of them were married yet. Also, The History of King's County, Novia Scotia, land of the Acadian... pages 563-564 lists from David Bentley, Cornwallis grantee, who married Ann Baldwin, all the way down to the children of Ashael from his first marriage. This book is available on-line at google books and is searchable on-line and the website is free. So i have traced all the way back to David Bentley, 1725-1792. This is also on the site Family Heritage.ca-New Brunswick and Nova Scotia Genealogy - A brief History of the Bentley... The Bentley Family of the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia by Robert C. Fisher. Let me know if this disagrees with what you have. I never knew there were so many Bentleys. From my research, three different william Bentleys came from England at about the same time and there are thousands!!! Initially, I was tracing for the DAR. My daughters are joining the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) though their father's great-aunt who proved the connection in 1966 and some of the members challenged me to look at my ancestry. I laughed because I knew it was a long shot. Although there are at least 6 revolutionary soldiers with the name of Bentley, none of them are direct descendants of me! But that's OK. This has been fascinating. Notify Administrator about this message?
