Allan,Not sure why I didn't connect to this question the other day.Maybe I can give you some information for a change.THe Bethlehem Baptist Church in Forsyth Co. GA listed below does have some family graves, and that is in Cummings not far from you.My inlaws said that the minister that was there when they went looking was less than helpful with records--they didn't seem to have any he knew of.If you ever go there, you will recognize several of my bentley branch.
Samuel and Jane SPICER
Samuel Bentley b. July 12, 1772 Halifax Co. VA, D. July 10, 1839 or 58 in Forsyth Co. GA, Buried in Bethlehem Bap Church, although the graves were not found by my in-laws at the time they went.I have these two dates for death, and have not cleared that up yet. M. Nancy LeGrand...
James Bentley b. May 16, 1774 Halifax C.
William Bentley born about 1776 m. Nancy Wills Jan 27, 1796 Halifax Co.
Daughter Bentley
Sarah Bentley b. May 9, 1783 in Halifax, D. Unknown (I have recently found a possible marriage to Andrew Lowrymore 14 Oct. 1808 in Elbert Co. GA--Several of our family ended up there.
John Ellis Bentley bor nOct 14 ro 24 1778 Halifax co. D. Jan 21 1857 in Coosa Co. or Chambers Co. Alabama
Samuel bentley b. abt 1739 Halifax co. married Jane Spicer before 1767.Daughter of James Spier and Daughter Bentley.Jane was born in 1750 in Halifax and died before 1797.he supposedly married a Lucy after 1797.Family notes--?reliability--maybe from that Academy in NY again, say that Samuel was a Revolutionary War Patriot. He was the son of Constable John Bentley. He moved from Amelia to Halifax co where he received a Royal Land Grant in 1760.
This DAUGHTER BENTLEY is listed as a sister of Samuel b.1719.She married james Spicer and they had a daughter jane born in 1750.It is one of these intermarriage things. Parents of Samuel b. 1719 and DAUGHTER BENTLEY is either the mysterious Samuel that supposedly arrived from England about 1720, or Daniel and Anne.
