Lewis is my husbands ggggrandfather his father was William Bentley. He married Elizabeth Gartrell daughter of Francis Gartrell of Wilkes County Georgia.Lewis descends from William Bentley I who came to America from England in 1621 on the ship "Jacob". You are right as far as the childred go.William his son married Patsy Wren amd had James L. and Franklin Evan, and Nancy. He died aroung the same time that his brother Francis died probably from malaria as they were cotton farmer and around the 1830's they tied the trees and a epedimic of malaria was in the area around Courtland where their plantations were.I have a picture of Franklin Evan in his Civil war uniform and of him and his wife Elizabeth Bunnell, his brother James married Virginia Bunnell her sister and Nancy married a McDaniels. The Bentley's and Bunnells have a reunion is Anadarko, Oklahoma on the third Sunday of July every year, lots of fun and lots of relatives.I would love to find out more about Robert and John if you have any information on them and I will send you what I have on Lewis and James and Franklin if you contact me direct at [email protected]
