Derek, On my trip to the local Library, I located Jane Norris on 8C 15, Sept. qtr. 1852. The match was with Thomas Bentham, although it wasn't perfectly clear. I can also remember some-one else trying to trace a Thomas Bentham married to Jane ?. Are you sure the names were John & Jane?. As an interesting thought, Hugh le Norreys was the earliest known Lord of Haigh, since that time the Estate has passed on by Family inheritance. It remained in the same Family for 754years, passing to the Bradshaighs in 1295 when Sir William Bradshaghe married Mabel Norreys, sole heiress of Haigh & Blackrod.Note the spelling changed, could this have happened to the Norreys?. I hope this is helpful, if you could check baptisms of siblings of John & Ellen (nee Ellison) married about l854 it would save me some time in Wigan . Carol. Notify Administrator about this message?
