Since I started this site I should put in the basic information. I have seen the name spelled Bentham and Bantham. I just found in a DAR book, Patriot Index, Centenial Edition, Part 1, a-f: John Bantham, ss44344 BLW 434-100, MD line, enlisted 1775, was a Sgt. He married Mrs. Rachael Riley. The pension was applied for April 2, 1818 from Coshocton Co. OH. Later applicant stated in 1820 that he was age 72, wife was age 70. It stated John was born about 1747 and died October 1,1824 in Coshocton Co. OH. I don't know anything, yet, about his probable first wife or children except:
His daughter, my ancestor, Gertrude Maria Bantham (b. 1796 DC/VA d. 1865+/- Iroquios Co. IL) married Isaac Fry April 13 1813 in Coshocton Co. OH. Isaac Fry was the son of Benjamin Fry (1759 VA-1838 IL) who was also in the Revolutionary War. That's a start. I would appreciate any input from fellow researchers. Jim
