Death of Mrs. Lucinda G. Bent
Mrs. Lucinda Bent, sister of the late Jacob and Alexander Grimes, of Batavia, and a former resident of this city, died at her home in Bloomington, Ill., Friday, March 11, 1898, after an illness of fourteen weeks from dropsy, aged nearly 75 years.
Deceased was born in Bethney, N.Y., in 1823, and was married to Mr. Bent, a Cotton Broker, of New Orleans, at her home in this city in 1856, and after making thier home in New Orleans until '59, they moved to Bloomington.
The funeral took place from her late home Sunday and the remains accompanied by her son, Mr. Horatio Bent and wife, and daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Neville, were brought to Batavia Monday noon and were met at the train by a large number of old friends and relatives.
After brief services at the grave at East Cemetery, the remains were laid to rest beside her husband who passed away 35 yeras ago.
The floral tributes were very beautiful. Loving and thoughtful ones had lined the grave with smilax and roses, thereby robbing it of its gloom.
I am not related to nor researching this family and have no further information.
