Long Lost Great Aunt, Carrie Benson born 1917 in WI

I am researching my mother's line. Her mother's name was Clara Helen Benson. Her parents were Glynn Benson & Gena (pronounced Ghee-nah) Amelia (Bergum) Benson.
Glynn was from Wiota/Gratiot, Lafayette County, WI. Gena Bergum was from Humboldt County, IA. The couple married and settled in Lafayatte County, WI. Gena Benson passed away on December 9, 1918, from the influenze epidemic. Her obit shows 3 children as surving.
One is my grandmother, Clara, who went to live with her grandmother, a brother George that stayed with his father, and Carrie. My mother thought that Carrie might have passed away after her mother Gena, sometime after January 9th 1918. However her sister, my aunt, has said that her mother told her that her sister Carrie went to live with family out west. Since I could not find a death certifcate for Carrie in Lafayette County, WI. I wonder if maybe she did go to live with relatives "out west" which could mean Iowa. We did have Benson family in Franklin County, IA and Bergum family in Humboldt County, IA. Does this ring a bell with anyone? I would love to know what really happen to Carrie. information would be much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Penny
