I am researching a John Benson, father of Alice Mendenhall, wife of Marmaduke Mendenhall. Alice and Marmaduke were married in Wrightsboro, Ga. on May 3, 1777. I found a will for a John Benson in Guilford Co., N. C. dated Sept 17, 1793, probated Nov. 1793 which listed the following children:
Jane Shelly, John Benson, Jr., Ailee Mendenhall and Reubin Benson.
I think Wrightsboro is in the part of Georgia that was once part of Wilkes Co. Could this John Benson, Jr. be the John Benson that died in Wilkes Co. in 1815? If so, do you have more information on this Benson Family?
