Further review of the family and descendants of Etienne Benoit dit Lajeunesse reveals that this Benoit surname did not survive beyond the third generation. Etienne Benoit dit Lajeunesse and Nicole Chandoyseau had ten children - six girls and four sons. Of the sons, three died in childhood and only Nicolas (1687-1726)lived to adulthood. He married Catherine Thibault in 1711 at Riviere des Prairies and they had eight children - five girls and three boys. Unfortunately all three sons died in childhood and thus their Benoit surname was not carried further. Of the eleven daughters of these two families, four died young and seven lived to marry and had a combined thirty five children, but without the Benoit name. All of this information is in the Montreal, Pointe aux Trembles, Riviere des Prairies and Boucherville parish records. By 1726, when Nicolas died, this line had died out.
