She was baptised Martine, changed her name to Mathilde then Martha. Martha Benoit of Enosburg VT
I strongly feel married Leo Garrow. That is fairly common in the 1850's. She was older than her husband, so she got younger in various Enosburg census records. Martha and Leo have a tombstone in Enosburg, be happy to send a scan of this stone if you can prove it is the same person ie Martine-Mathilde-Martha Benoit.
Martine Benoit had a brother Jacques Benoit who married Isabelle Archambault, this couple remained in Enosburg VT and have a large descendence in northwest Vermont and elsewhere in the USA.
Five of Martine's brothers and sisters came back to Quebec in the 1850's and there is also lots of cousins in the Eastern Townships of Quebec (Sherbrooke, Magog)The names of these family members are: Jean-Baptiste Benoit (Célina Demers); Dominique Benoit (Jeanne Emilia Laflamme); Marie Benoit (Joseph Labreche); Zoé Benoit (Lafrenière and Coutemanche)& Lucie Agathe Benoit (Alexandre Lesperance). If anyone links to these or you have information on Martine Benoit, be glad to communicate. The 5 brothers and sisters mentioned above died around the 1900's in the Magog area of Quebec.. Dominique Benoit (Jeanne Emilia Laflamme); is my g-g-grand father. I also have a picture of this couple as well and possibly of Rose Pepin, wife of Antoine Benoit.
