Duane,

This may prove to be more beneficial as the Benoits could have come from Ottawa or Montreal too. I see them (Benoit and Charette) as Acadian names.

The ACGS holds the Catholic marriage records (they'll research for a fee) for Troy NY or you could try to query the ACGS board.
