My family knowledge only goes back as far as my grandfather, James Charles Bennison, born 1869 in (I think) Newcastle-under-Lyme. He was one of a large family, but I only met his youngest brother, Tom, who lived near Newcastle and died there in the early 1970s. Oral family history places our forebears in and around the town of Leek. I have in my possession a facsimile of an auctioneer's poster dated 1843 relating to the sale of a farm property called Ipstones Park, in the village of Ipstones (4 miles or so from Leek) "by order of Mr Bennison". If anyone knows whether and how my grandfather might be related to the Mr Bennison of the poster, I should be very grateful to know.
