My great-great grandmother, Millicent Fielding, had my great-grandfather out of wedlock. My great-grandfather, Thomas, was born in Brindle in 1839. 2 years later, she married Richard Bennison (though the marriage certificate reads Melicent Feilden and Richard Benson) They went on to have several children and eventually moved, along with the Fielding families to Bamber Bridge/Walton-le-Dale. On the 1841 census, they are living with George and Alice Dawson in Brindle. In the 1851 census, they have moved to Bamber Bridge and have the children Jane, Alice, Grace, Betty and Ellen. Since they are on 2 different pages, it lists Richard Penison with wife Matilda, daughter Jane; on the next page is listed Alice Benison, grace, Betty, Ellen, and Thomas Fielding. Thomas' relationship to the head of household is "son" but I'm not sure if he is really the son of Richard, or just the stepson. By the birthplaces of the daughters, I estimate that they moved to Bamber Bridge between 1846-1849. One of the descendants of Millicent and Richard was a witness at the marriage of Thomas' daughter Elizabeth's wedding.
