Thos. J. Benney--1860 to 1927--California Miner

I am looking for any descandants of Thomas J. BENNEY. Mr. Benney was born in 1860 in California, probably in or around Mariposa.

On 3 Jul 1882 he married Anna Johnson Marshall, a daughter of Thomas W. and Sarah Phillips Marshall, at Merced. Anna was born in 1864 in Mariposa County.

According to census data, Thomas J. Benney was a miner whose parents were born in England. The name Benney is Cornish so that is where I presume his family originated.

As is typical for mining families, the Benney family moved a great deal in the mining districts of California living at times in Mariposa, Tuolumne and El Dorado counties.

Thomas Benney died on 16 May 1927 in El Dorado County. His widow lived out her life in San Joaquin County and died in 1954.

The Benney's had several children including Eugene (1883), Unidentified infant (1886), Annie (1887), and William (1893). There may have been others.

I would like to correspond with any interested parties.
