Dear Ms. Bowers:

Thank you for responding to my post on the Benney family. I knew sooner or later that I would find someone from this family.

As noted in my original message, T.J. Benney married into my clan of Marshall's who lived in and around Mariposa, CA from 1852 through 1900.

My gg-grandfather was Thomas W. Marshall whose family was originally from Northumberland Co., England. He married Sarah Jane Phillips who was of Cornish extraction. They were married in 1860 at Sherlock Creek, Mariposa County, CA. Interestingly, Sarah's family lived at Mineral Point, Wisconsin after the family moved there from Redruth, Cornwall. Sarah was a young girl when her family moved to California from Mineral Point via wagon train in 1849. My family name, CARAH, is also Cornish and originates from Camborne and Crowan.

Thomas W. Marshall's daughter, Anna J., married Thomas Benney in July 1882 at Merced.

I will contact you directly via e-mail. I have a great deal of info on the Marshall's and would like to know more about the Benney family.

Regards,

Warren B. Carah
