Helen Bennett

Helen Bennett, 88, of the Scappoose, Wash. area, died May 25, 2004 in Scappoose of natural causes.
She was born May 11, 1916, in Hillyard, Wash. to Edward and Lizzie Goldey Meibaum.
She moved to Portland from Spokane, Wash. in 1934.
She was a graduate nurse from Emanuel Hospital in Portland. She worked at a number of Portland area hospitals as a nurse.
She married Lenthal Bennett on Feb. 14, 1940, in Kelso Wash.
The couple moved to Brookings in 1976. At the death of her husband in 1998, Mrs. Bennett moved to Scappoose.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Steve and Jackie Bennett of Scappoose; daughter and son-in-law Georgia and Terry Peoples of Santa Rosa, Calif.; granddaughters Kari Engstrom and Kris Anderson of Scappoose, Debbie Perry and Kristine Canady of Santa Rosa. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren.
A private interment was held at Rogue River Cemetery in Gold Beach.

Arrangements under the direction of Columbia Funeral Home, St. Helens.
