My Benner family also appears to have lived in Dillenburg.

HEINRICH (HENRY) BENNER, 1817-1880 and WILHELMINA LEIHENER BENNER, 1818-1890 and their children appear to have entered the United States after 1854. AUGUST MARTIN BENNER, son of HEINRICH and WILHELMINA, was born in DILLENBURG, HESSEN, (WESTPHALIA) GERMANY, 1854, and HENRY BENNER was born in Texas 16 Jun 1857. Ebenezer cemetery in Caldwell Co. TX lists the burial site of WILHELMINE, 16 November 1818 to 29 May 1890 and HENRY W. BENNER 16 Jun 1857 to 4 Mar 1893.

This is the SUSPECTED BENNER PROGENITOR LINE.

JOHANNES BENNER born in Salzburg, Hessen-Nassau, Prussia, 1710 dying 9 Jul 1758. JOHANNES married before 1734 to ANNA ELISABETHA born in Salzburg, Hessen-Nassau, Prussia, June 1708 dying 7 Aug 1796 in Salzburg, Hessen-Nassau, Prussia after having the following children:

JOHANNES CHRISTIANUS BENNER.
JOHANNES BENNER.
LOUISA ELISABETHA BENNER.
MARIA CATHARINA BENNER.
ANNA MARIA BENNER.
ANNA MARGRETHA BENNER.
JOHANN THOENGES BENNER.

JOHANNES BENNER'S line of descendants can be viewed at JOHANNES BENNER, EMMERICHENHAIN, PARISH, NASSAU, PRUSSIA, 1669-1806.

From among the first emigrant recruits, who arrived in Galveston on the Johann Detthard, the Herschel, and the Ferdinand in November and December of 1844 and became founders of New Braunfels was ADOLPH BENNER.

"Dillenburg is located in the German state of Hessen. Nearby towns include Siegen to the northwest, Herborn to the south and Marburg, Hessen to the east. This area is oftentimes referred to as Westphalia. A history book titled Schloss und Stadt Dillenburg by E. Becker which was obtained in the town hall tells of the beginnings of the town in about 1340 with the main influence of William of Orange." The above quote is from DILLENBURG, HESSEN, (WESTPHALIA) GERMANY.
