I am assuming that you have located John Benner and family on the 1850 PA Federal census and in later years in IL.In 1949 Hannah Benner Roach compiled a genealogy on Benner's entitled"Detective Work Among the Benners" which was published in the Montgomery Co.,PA Historical Society Magazine that year.I KNOW that the Bucks Co.Genealogical Society has a copy at Spruance Library in Doylestown,PA. You might want to ask for a xerox copy.
The other possibility is that in recent years Henry Z. Jones has done extensive work on Palatine Germany immigration. He located the source of MY Benners in Germany as being Laubenheim(see MORE PALATINE FAMILIES by Henry Z. Jones,1991).There the surname was BENDER.
