Found in the Standard Times /SouthCoastToday.com EVELYN F. BENNER, 92 ROCHESTER -- Evelyn F. (FOISY) BENNER, 92, of Rochester, died unexpectedly at home, Friday, Sept. 26, 2003. She was the widow of Ward E. BENNER and the former wife of the late James A. LEDDY. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Edward J. and Emma E. (MORLOCK) FOISY, she lived in New Bedford and Rochester all her life. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church. Mrs. Benner was a switchboard operator for Merchants Bank and later with Standard Grocery until her retirement. She was a member of the Rochester Council on Aging, the Rochester Senior Citizens Club and bowling team, and the R.S.V.P. Volunteer service in Plymouth. In 2003, she was the recipient of the Howard Keel Award for volunteer work. She enjoyed line dancing. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia M. LEWIS and her husband, J. Maurice, of Fairhaven; two stepsons, Ward A. BENNER and his wife, Evelyn, and Arthur F. BENNER, all of Rochester; several grandchildren; step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was the mother of the late Edward A. LEDDY and James D. LEDDY and sister of the late Alice Billington Arendt, Rachel Houle, Ethel Boucher and Herbert E. Foisy. Her graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Center Cemetery.
