In the ship "Oregon Crosby" from Bremen to NY arriving 19 Nov 1851
Hermann Benne, age 21, destination St. Louis, MO. He married (Maria) Adalaide Potz/Potts, lived in or around St. Louis, then Minnesota, then Kansas, where he died 23 Apr. 1891. (Washington, KS).
In the ship "Zurich" from Havre to NY (family from Bavaria) arr. 1 May 1852, NY. Wilhelm Potz, age 54

One of the children of Hermann Benne and Maria Adalaide Potz was Charles Calvin Benne
b. 19 Jan 1865 in Washington, KS, d. 19 Jul 1928, Kansas City, MO. He married Lydia Ellen Withrow b. 1 Aug 1864 in Posey, Indiana and died 11 Sep 1945 in Kansas City, MO.
Since this a rather unusual name it would be interesting to see postings from other persons with Benne ancestry.
