Mary Gracie (or Grace) Benjey is my grandmother. She did not die in 1966. She did not marry Asher.

She did marry George Wesley Ashurst of Somerset, KY. On her grave stone, found in the Wallins Creek, Kentucky Masonic Cemetery is listed these dates:

December 28, 1885
October 23, 1918

On the stone her name is listed as Mary Gracie Partin. Partin is her married name after moving from Somerset to Whitley County (where her son Omer was born on September 9, 1914. Certificate number 55106. After his birth, she moved on to Wallins Creek, Kentucky. There she met Mr. Partin. After the death of Gracie, he remained a border in the home of Gracie's mother, Elizabeth Bengie/Benjey. This can be verified by the 1920 census for Harlan County, KY.

Elizabeth Bengie/Benjey is also buried in this same cemetery. Adjacent to the grave of Gracie is that of her brother and his wife (Robert P. Benjey and Sarah Benjey).

Gracie died during the time of a flu epidemic.

I possess cemetery photos, oral family history, and other records.
