Jno Benjamin & Family of Loudoun Co., V A
Posted by: Joseph Reed Williams (ID *****9029) Date: December 03, 2008 at 08:04:13
  of 1829

The 1850 cenus of Loudoun Co., VA found Jno (John/Jonathan) Benjamin & family in Loudoun Co. Jno was 26, wife Harriet, 25 and children: Maria, 8; Jas(James) 5; Sis,4 & Jno, 2.

Strong indications suggest my G4 grandfather Abel Davis was b. in Loudoun Co. about 1765. Abel m. Mary Huffman d/o John & Margaret Huffman. A John & Margaret Huffman lived in Loudoun Co. where John,(b. 1741 in Berks Co., PA) died in 1792. A few years ago I found Abel & Mary in Monongalia Co., VA (now Taylor Co, WV). About 1818 Abel and family moved to Champaign Co., OH. By 1835 Abel and most of his children were livnig in White Co., IN.
Most of Abel's family eventually migrated to White Co. including Elizabeth Davis, b. 1809 in Monongalia Co. who m. Jonathan Benjamin, Jr. about 1830 in OH.
Following the death of Jonathan, Elizabeth & son Abel Benjamin joined the family in White Co. Abel Benjamin was killed during the Civil War. 27 Benjamins & 24 Huffmans are listed in, "A Standard History of White Co., IN", Vols I & II published in 1915 by Lewis Publishing Co. I suspect Jno of Loudoun Co. is probably realted to the Davis & Benjamn family of White Co.
