Herb..

My grandparents were Alfred Stanley Benjamin Jr. and Grace
Madeline Hunt. We share the same great grandparents, Alfred Sr and Annie Langley - All are buried in Edgell
Grove Cemetary, Framingham, Mass (My birthplace). My mother is Grace Madeline Benjamin and her siblings, Stan, Ken, and Norma Matthews. My mom and her brother, Ken, ironically both "passed" during the last year.

I have also been searching for our 2nd great grandfather,
John Benjamin and have come up "empty handed"...even
with certified genealogists who are also linked to the
Benjamin/Nichols lineage!! John was born btwn 1803 and 1810 according to his death notices and census. He married MARY Edith Nichols (B 1812 Maccan Southampton Cumberland Cty NS to David and Mary Nichols) abt 1834 in or near Cornwallis NS. After marrying in NS, John and
Mary (Edith) migrated to Presque Isle, Aroostock Cty, Maine with Mary's brother, David Nichols. John is listed
as one of the Early Settlers arriving in Aroostock Cty in 1835. John and Mary's brother, David, are on the historical list of "Early Settlers of Aroostock County, Maine". I have also discovered a tracking map that indicates Alfred Jr's land with his name listed !

Mary died during, or after, Alfred Sr's birth. John remarried Mary Whittaker, whose family were also on the
list of early settlers in Aroostock Cty. The Benjamin
lineage can be traced back to John Benjamin who came
from England on the "Lyon"..lineage migrated from
Cambridge, Mass - Weathersfield, CT - Gaspereaux
MT, Horton - Kings Cty NS. Again, still trying to find
confirming documents for John Benjamin's parentage..What
an elusive "fellow"!!!

I have vacationed in Indian Harbor, NS the past 3 years
and didn't realize until recently I had ancestors from
NS!!!! I am returning there again this Sept and plan on
delving deeper into the search for John Benjamin. I've
also met new "cousins" from NS who are all linked to the Benjamin family! Nova Scotia is celebrating it's 250 celebraton of the "Early Planters of NS" in 2012. I have been asked by to help coordinate a family reunion there. This will be fun and a great celebration!

Please email me as I have lots Benjamin/Nichols information to share with you, including a wonderful engagement picture of my grandparents, Alfred Jr & Grace Hunt. I am a novice geneaologist and have only "delved" into these treasures the past 3 months!!! However, I'm
tenatious and WILL find our elusive 2nd great grandfather
John....

Hope you contact me!!
