This is the obituary of Mary Emeline Benjamin, born 24 Mar 1841 in Hunter, Greene County NY, daughter of Augustus Benjamin and Naomi Emeline Castle. I am looking for information on any of the individuals mentioned below:
THE MONTROSE HERALD Montrose, South Dakota June 17, 1918 Funeral. -- The remains of Grandma Pardee arrived from Hill City on 1:40 train, Monday afternoon. Rev. Gleason conducted the service from the Baptist church. Burial made in the cemetery north of town, where she was laid to rest beside her daughter, Mrs. Eva Lepper, who died 32 years ago. Her husband, Henry M. Pardee, was an old soldier, and is buried at Hot Springs in the soldiers' burying ground, but the children say they intend having his remains brought here and buried beside her in the family burying ground. Deceased died Friday, May 31st. Her passing was quiet, just going to sleep and not waking, heart failed during her sleep. She was always rather a frail little woman, yet kept up and about until the day of her death. She was 77 years, 2 months and three days old. She had been living at Hills City with her son Ben and niece Mate Pardee for the past five years. They accompanied the remains to Montrose. She was a good Christian woman and had many friends. Three children survive her: Ben Pardee, of Hills City; George Pardee of Whetland, California; and Eunice (Una) Castle , of Cleveland, Ohio. The latter two could not come for the funeral. Her two granddaughters, Miss Mate Lepper and Mrs. Ralph Johnson, whose mother died when they were very young, were brought up by Mrs Pardee and they mourn her as a mother. General sympathy is extended them. CARD OF THANKS To all the kind friends who have brought flowers and extended their sympathy and showed their interest by being present at the laying away of our dear mother, we desire to express our gratitude. Ben Pardee, Mate Lepper and Ralph Johnson and Wife
NEWS ITEM: Ben Pardee and Miss Mate Lepper who came from Hills City Monday to attend Mrs. Pardee's funeral, expect to remain some time before returning, then only to pack up and come back here to live.
