There are many jewish Benjamins in the present. I have attended synagogue with some of them, though I do not practice judaism.

There is a difference between "hebrew" and "jewish." We may be of hebrew origin but do not practice judaism and therefore are hebrew but not "jewish."

One can also be jewish but not hebrew (ie sammy davis jr, whoopie goldberg), people who convert to judaism but were not born of hebrew blood.

Hebrew is blood/race, jewish is religion.
