El apellido Benitez es relativamente frecuente en Canarias y proviene de familias andaluzas, que se establecieron en las islas poco antes del descubrimiento de America. Probablemente el apellido Benitez en Texas, tenga su antecedente en emigraciones forzosas o voluntarias de canarios en el siglo XVII y XVIII.
