Hello Shannon- I don't know much about your line. After William Blount Benge and Nancy Edmondson, who were my gggg-uncle and aunt, since my ggg-grandmother married William Edmondson. I don't have a lot of information. Nancy had severe asthma, which was supposedly William Benge's reason for moving to Texas. I doubt that this was the cause, but at any rate, Nancy travelled with a nurse and a fully fitted-out hospital wagon. My Elizabeth Benge Edmondson died in her early 50s. I don't know the cause. I do know that her her grandchildren in my line were very prone to pneumonia and to respiratory allergies. My g-grandmother died of pneumonia, as did my uncle. My father was a strong man, but very susceptible to respiratory problems. He would cough so hard he'd lose consciousness. One of my cousins and I are very much like that, prone to cough-induced asthma. Apart from what appears to be an inherited tendency toward respiratory disease and allergies, I don't know that any of us have had a genetic respiratory disease. However, there is an inherited 'bicuspid heart' in my families. I suspect the Benge/Edmondson line, but haven't been able to track it for more than three generations, so still don't know which family passed that on. If I find out any more about the respiratory problems in our line, I'll let you know. In the meantime, I'll e-mail another Benge cousin and see if she knows anything.
