Wrong Elisha Benfield
Posted by: Paul Benfield (ID *****9903) Date: August 30, 2011 at 17:00:16

I am terribly confused and looking for help. I am trying to figure out the conflict between people listing what seem to be two different people as one and the same. Many people seem to be confusing an Elisha Benfield born in Burke NC in 1839 with the Elisha Alexander Benfield born in Illinois in 1845.
I have Elisha A Benfield born in Illinois marrying Elizabeth Hoover born in PA with a son John Wesley born in Apr 1866 in PA.
Marion Daily Star from early 1900s lists Elisha Alexander Benfield and Elizabeth Hoover as parents of my great great grandfather, John Wesley Benfield of St Petersburg.
1880 Census Crawford County, Ohio AE Benfield (age 35); wife Elizabeth A (age 35); son John W. (age 13)
1900 Census Marion, Ohio Elisha Benfield (age 62); wife Elizabeth (age 54);
1920 Census Marion Ohio- Elisha A Benfield (age 92); wife Elizabeth A. (age 74)

Yet many, many trees list Elisha and Elizabeth being from NC. Any help?
