Vol II of Elwyn F Benedict's book "Genealogy of the Benedicts in America", page 248, has "VI. Ard, b. Aug. 11, 1844, m.1st., m, 2nd. Chriatine Kelso, who d.July19,1924. He d. May 19,1924. R., Chesley, Ont., Can."
Eight children are listed, the first is: "1.Smedley(by 1st.m.)deceased"
I didn't find any other Smedley Benedict in Vol I or vol II.
