my great grandmother was Alice Viola BENEDICT. she was the daughter of Elikim Starr BENEDICT and his second wife, Ellen GILMORE. In the BENEDICT GENEOLOGY BOOK, VOL II, she is on page 313, as IV.Daughter, (by 2nd.m.) m. Mr. Frank HOFFMAN. R. R.D. Cornwall Bridge, Warren, Conn. Family states she had a brother Roy, who in turn had a son Roy that lived in Portland Oregon. The son made a trip to CT in order to find out more about his father, but Alice would not give any information. She was very secretive about her family. Roy made contact with other HOFFMAN family members but there was not much information to share. Alice and Franks son Wesley HOFFMAN and his wife Louise were visiting with Roy and his family
in Portland Oregon where Wesley suffered a fatal heart attack and died. Alice and the majority of the children are buried in the New Warren CT Cemetery.
All of the family records state Alice was born in Warren, CT, but i have been unable to prove this, the VS office does not list her birth, or the birth of her brother or other siblings.
Alice was born 9Oct1881 and died 5Jun1971 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, CT. she lived in Warren CT up until her death. She had 11 children, one is still living.
