Thanks Lesley (and Ann Kettlewell) for replying to my mail.
I'm afraid I don't have too much information to link Jane Bendelow back to her parents. From her wedding certificate (20-May-1848) I have her father as Thomas Bendelow, a Labourer. She is described as a Spinster of full age, no profession, and living in Masham and could only make her mark.
Since my original posting I have found her in the 1851 York census she is recorded (as Jane Sturdy) as aged 24, born in Well. That would put as being born in around 1827 (allowing for my ancestors inability to calculate their own ages !).
In 1861 she had moved to Castleford and was then aged 33 !
I have birth certs for 7 her children (born between 1849 and 1861).
Anyway please email me off-board and see if we can get to the bottom of this. You can pick up the address from this board.
Regards,
Phil
